Mindfulness Strategies for Managing Caregiver Stress

Young woman in wheel chair Caring for a loved one is often a physically and emotionally draining experience. Stress, exhaustion and burnout are quite common. If not addressed, it can take a toll on one’s health, relationships and emotional well-being. Melissa Linn-Canas will discuss the demands of caregiving and provide some strategies to help individuals better manage the day-to-day pressures of providing care. Discussion will include incorporating mindfulness techniques, yoga, massage, and other spiritual/holistic approaches in daily practice.

Featuring Melissa M. Linn-Canas, a licensed clinical professional counselor and clinical coordinator for Potomac Case Management Services, Inc. Melissa also directs HOPE Counseling and Wellness, LLC where she and her team incorporate yoga, massage, spiritual care and holistic nursing in their treatment approach. Melissa has more than 14 years of experience in providing mental health services in the inpatient, outpatient and community non-profit settings
