Good Choices Start Small
As consumers, we used to believe that you choose health or convenience, not both. Well, we got one thing right: there’s a choice to be made. In fact, there are thousands of little choices to be made every day that greatly impact our health.
Deciding to park farther away from the entrance to get a few extra steps in. Choosing a healthier snack to keep you going. Opting for that lower calorie beverage to quench your thirst. Taking an extra minute at bedtime to floss.
The good news is that getting started down the road to a healthier life is easy enough — the first step is…
one more healthy choice.
Why “One for Good”?
One = Small step, the individual, the collaboration
For Good = healthy for you, towards permanent change, altruistic (for the collaboration)
Collaboration for Healthier Lives
The One for Good model was developed by members of The Consumer Goods Forum and in partnership with Healthy Washington County. It sees your favourite retailers and manufacturers coming together with the local public health authority to achieve positive change in the stores, for our own people and in the communities where we operate. We will also measure our success as we progress towards healthier baskets, based on local dietary guidelines, and increase awareness and access to preventative services.
The Hagerstown initiative is a global partnership between some of the world’s leading companies’ including Ahold Delhaize, Barilla, Campbell Soup Company, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg Company, Mondelēz International, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Walmart. The CGF is also pleased to partner with the local public health authority, Healthy Washington County.
About Healthy Washington County
Healthy Washington County is a public and private collaboration of collective, concerned community partners. The group strives to help people in the region better understand their personal health status and provides the means to help individuals achieve their healthiest potential. Partners include health care organizations like Meritus Health, the Washington County Health Department, Hagerstown YMCA, Brook Lane Health Services, and the United Way. Since a healthy community is good for business, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce is also an active participant in this local health improvement project.
