April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year’s campaign, according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), is Building Connected Communities. This event will help to raise awareness of sexual violence in all forms, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, and stalking. The event will be dedicated to recognizing and supporting survivors of sexual violence and educating the community on the importance of preventing sexual violence. Survivors will have an opportunity to share their stories, heal, and feel supported if they wish. There will be a candlelight vigil for survivors. Along with survivors speaking, we will have a band (Code Blues), and our keynote speaker, Tina Fraley, will have copies of her book available for purchase. Other educational materials will be available, as well. This is a free event. Light refreshments will be served. TBTN Poster
